The required-webservices section is an informational section where to declare the names of the Web Services that the tool will be using. If all of the declared webservices are not available on the Blackboard Learn server then the System Administrator cannot make the proxy tool available. The current Web Services available for use can be found on Blackboard Learn and newer Web Service Names, but check your Academic Suite server at release time for the most up-to-date list. Only list the services that the tool uses.

Even if this element is not provided any Web Services can still be used. The only caveat is that the Blackboard Learn System Administrator does not know beforehand which services are in use and Blackboard Learn will make the tool available even if required services are not present or not available.

It is recommended this element be utilized so the tool is only available when the required Web Services are available. If this element is not provided then you must specify the operations you plan on using in your registerTool method call or you will not be granted the entitlements required.
