The vendor field describes you, as a vendor. It should ideally be a short string similar to the 4-character vendorid used in building block development, but can be longer (up to 128 characters; see the note below about http-action links). Longer names will make the UI appear cluttered, so try to keep this short.

This is a constant value to use for all of your products. It should be unique so that nobody else will end up using the same value.

The sum of the lengths of your vendor identifier and program identifier must be less than or equal to 63 characters in length to support any links elements. Also, to support links elements then these must be us-ascii characters only.
